Every year Ceramic Tile Distributors
rolls out the red carpet for our annual CTD Conference, an exciting and much anticipated event in which CTD Executives, Field Sales Teams, Sector Heads, Branch Managers, Regional Managers and Suppliers attend.
This year’s event saw over 200 colleagues joined by some of the most prestigious suppliers in the industry, all keen to support the event and offer their continued backing for the largest supplier to the trade in the UK. Vitra, Johnson Tiles, Keraben , Bal, Ardex, Weber, Instarmac , Rubi, Hardie, Schlüter-Systems & Tilebacker
were just a few of those who were there to hear the message about how their involvement will continue to benefit both companies and to enjoy a fun filled day based at the Newcastle Gateshead Hilton Hotel - a luxurious back drop for an extra special event.
Starting off the day on a high, CTD Managing Director Nick Holland
welcomed us all and gave a review of a fantastic and record breaking 2016, along with an insight into what 2017 holds for CTD branches, CTD Architectural Tiles, CTD Housebuilders & the Retail Distribution sector. A true specialist that cannot be out-specialised.
With over 20 new branches planned, along with some strategic acquisitions and massive investment from Saint-Gobain, it will be an incredible year for the business!
We were also delighted to have Saint-Gobain CEO Mark Rayfield
on board throughout the day, delivering an inspirational and motivational presentation which had us looking forward to the future progression of CTD within SGBD.
Presentations continued throughout the day seeing the likes of Supply Chain Director Robert Hawley, Head of HR Katie Clapham, Finance Director Jill Bemrose, Operations Director Shaun Mason, Regional Operations Manager Colin Sharp & Sales Director John O’Sullivan
all demonstrating innovative developments and new possibilities for 2017.
Recruitment within CTD is ever evolving, with new possibilities for nationwide vacancies and career progression making more appealing opportunities for current employee growth and opportunities for potential employees.
This includes apprenticeship schemes, company sponsored professional qualifications and a new minimum wage of £7.80 for all employees over 21! The conference highlighted over 35 promotions in one year and many people changing roles for their own development.

Customer Service in our nationwide branches was commended by CTD’s Shaun Mason as excellence was demonstrated throughout 2016 and will progress and excel throughout 2017.
We were also joined by Rubi’s Managing Director Vladimir Hoyos
who presented 3 CTD Branch managers with a generous £1000 and a trip to Barcelona for their efforts and outstanding achievements when taking part in Rubi’s Incentive Scheme.Vitra’s UK & Ireland Sales Manager
was also on stage to present a prestigious award at this year’s event. Operations Director Shaun Mason

After presentations, lunch and some extremely delicious coffee breaks it was time for the Award ceremony we had all been waiting for.
Once all formalities were over with it was time to sit back, relax and enjoy a delicious three course meal followed by carnival themed entertainment including a magician, acrobats, and fairground inspired stalls, where attendees were able to try their luck for a chance to win thrilling prizes from Fitbits, to Amazon Echos, to tablets.
