There’s no time like the present to introduce you to one of the innovative and exciting trends of 2017 as seen at the WGSN colour talk at 100% design way back in September.
Ok so we know it’s not even 2016 yet but who cares, after all it is never too early to be inspired!
First on the list of super exciting trends for 2017 as perceived by WGSN Lifestyle & Interiors senior editor Gemma Riberti and her team is, drum roll please… Encounter Culture.
This energetic trend takes inspiration from travel, culture and desired destinations.
Exploring every nook, twist, knot and pattern, Encounter Culture is about to be one of S/S 2017’s jet setting trends.
Think tropical paradise with a hint of mystery, long lost historic treasures in the form of natural knotted materials, time worn shapes and vibrant shades.
Tropical prints are key to the predicted success of the Encounter Culture trend. Strong, bold palm prints are likely to be seen in a new and improved way.
Marco, minimal palms are to emerge over the course of early summer and of course be seen on wallpapers, home accessories and interior flooring.
Dark shades will commonly be found lurking in the depths to help accentuate the strategically placed vibrant palm prints - perfect for screen printing fabric furnishings, wallpapers and floor tiles.
Ever popular screen printed & digital printed tiles are in high demand across the ceramic tile industry at the moment and it’s safe to say we can definitely envision this hot culture concentrated trend within modern commercial and domestic buildings alike.
2017 is set to be one of the hottest years yet when it comes to printed ceramics, providing customers with a large variety of decor tiles suitable for both walls and floors.
Key colours for the Encounter Culture trend are somewhat familiar to previous 2015 & 2014 Spring Summer trends, however this well considered colour palette somehow manages to bring warmth despite its strong, vibrant accent tones.
Browns and creams neutralise this bold vivacious colour palate preventing its more dominating tones from being too over powering, making it more appealing to a broader target market.
Watch this space for more trend updates and insights into what we predict for the future of interior design.
