How to Create a Feature Wall with Tiles

Blog Post by Jen Stanbrook from Love Chic Living

Your bathroom and kitchen should benefit from the same design techniques used in other rooms in the home, including the feature wall. We are here to say, your walls shouldn’t be boring. In this blog post we’ll look at how you can use wall tiles to great stunning focal points, eye catching displays and beautiful spotlights that turn heads every single time.

Colour

Gone are the days when we defaulted to the simple white tile. If you want your walls to create an impressive impact, it’s time to embrace colour. From rose pink to striking emerald, from brilliant yellow to calming teal, there’s a colour palette for every home and every taste. If you don’t want to cover the walls in colour, add touches in key places such as sink splashbacks. Use it sparingly or cover the whole wall, the choice is yours, but know that the injection of colour is a wonderful way to give your home a bold dose of personality and flair.

Use Pattern

There is a vast array of patterned tiles that, used in a clever way, will create a wonderful feature in any bathroom or kitchen. The striking Varadero Hexagon tiles are a perfect example. Use them for the shape alone or combine them in 2 different colours to add a fun look that really catches the eye. Use the geometry of metro tiles in unconventional patterns, think sideways and at quirky angles, to create a unique design. Perfect as a splashback around the sink or cooking area, we guarantee they’ll be the dazzling focal point of any kitchen.

Design Combinations

There are a couple of rules you can follow to ensure success of course, like mixing complementary colours from the same range or blocking one style before the introduction of the other. If you’re not confident in your own choices, why not try one of the ready mixed packs such as the Arles Decor Mix Gloss Tile curated to create the perfect design combo. Alternatively the Cementine Patchwork Tile creates a stylish Tuscan inspired décor and works perfectly when paired industrial effect plain wall tiles.

Texture

The focal wall impact doesn’t have to come from pattern or colour, texture can play an important part in adding drama to your interiors. Textured tiles are a very simple way to create a feature in your bathroom, for example. The beautiful marble effect of the Versus Wave Tile is subtle in its styling, yet forthright in its effect. Or why not look at the high shine of the Poitiers Indigo Gloss tile, which effortlessly bounces light around the room, perfect for a smaller bathroom. Furthermore, we love the natural swirling marble-effect of the Kingston White Brillo Tile, which combines simple texture with high impact.
