5 Ways to Style Your Bathroom

When it comes to bathroom style, there’s no ‘one size fits all’. Far from it in fact! Like all parts of the home, the bathroom has become somewhere where we can express our personality and make our own design choices – from bathroom tiles, sanitaryware and colours.

In the age of Pinterest and Instagram, our minds and phones are so full of different inspiration ideas that it’s sometimes difficult to know where to start. Bathroom tiles in particular have become a great way of making a creative design statement.

To help you find your style, we’ve put our favourite Instagram-worthy bathroom looks together. So whether you’re about to start a complete renovation or you’re just thinking about updating a few bits here and there, we guarantee you’ll find something that makes it into your bathroom Pinterest board…

1. Blues in the Bathroom

Blue in the bathroom works for so many reasons – it pairs well with white ceramics, it looks clean and crisp and it’s extremely versatile. From teal patterned floor tiles to navy metro wall tiles, there are so many combinations and styles to opt for.

If you’re a fan of a classic look, think of bringing a mint tile into a combined palette of whites and greys. The combination of colours and patterns, as seen here using our Havana Silver floor tiles and Poitiers Mint and White tiles, will work wonders when paired with a classic basin pedestal.

It can sometimes be difficult to figure out how to combine different colours and styles of bathroom tiles, we recommend starting off by getting samples of the ones you think you like and trying out different combinations on a moodboard… you’ll soon figure out which ones you want to go for! Once you’ve chosen your tiles and colours, find textures and finishes that work with your surface choices and your scheme will come together in no time!

2. The Classic White Marble Bathroom Look

Marble has been popular in bathrooms for a long time, and you don’t have to search too far to realise why. There is something about marble that just oozes luxury and with so many marble-effect options available now, you can achieve that luxury designer look for less!

Large format marble bathroom tiles can really make a bathroom feel like your very own spa. Our Marmori marble tiles look amazing when laid on the floor and half way up the wall, creating a marble frame around the room. For the ultimate luxury finish, pair your white marble tiles with a freestanding bath and very minimal styling, the less clutter the better!

3. Combine Different Marbles on Bathroom Walls & Floors

Being adventurous with different finishes, colours and textures in the bathroom can have a wonderful effect. If you prefer a bit more of a relaxed, yet still luxurious, look, mixing up your marble tiles could be the way forward. A lot of tiles come in different finishes, from high gloss to wavy, and collections are often created with different colour pairings in mind.

Black and white is a natural pairing, so why not go for a mixture of both colourways in your bathroom? Seen here, our Black and White Star tiles in black and white are used to zone different areas of this dreamy bathroom. The wave-effect black marble tiles are used in the shower enclosure, creating a stunning feature wall, whilst the hints of wood work amazingly with both the white and black tiled surfaces.

Don’t be afraid to mix and match your tiles, the end result could be your ideal look!

4. Natural Textures and Finishes in the Bathroom

The bathroom is somewhere where natural textures, colours and finishes will feel instantly at home, whether that’s through some greenery, touches of wood or stone-effect tiling.

Best styled in a pared-back, neutral palette, one of the most effective ways of bringing some natural texture into the bathroom is through 3D stone effect tiles. A number of tile collections are available in the same colourways in flat surfaces and textured surfaces, so you can pair plain floors with detailed walls really easily. Check out our Polesden and Cliveden tile collections for some natural stone inspiration!

If you want to truly embrace the nature-inspired look, a wood-effect tile is a beautiful choice for a bathroom, especially when paired with a gorgeous freestanding bath. Offering you all the beauty of natural wood but with all the practical benefits of a porcelain tile, we’ve got a wide range of wood-effect tiles for you to choose from in a range of different shades.

5. Bathrooms with Pops of Pastel

In case you haven’t noticed, colour is having a bit of a comeback in interiors at the moment… especially pink! You only have to look at our tagged pictures on Instagram to see how many people are going mad for pastels.

Pinks and light blues don’t have to look ‘childish’ anymore, they’re officially fine for grown-up interiors! Pink has become hugely popular, with our Poitiers Pink Gloss tiles definitely one of our best-sellers! Often used as the only pop of colour in a white bathroom scheme, rectangular pink tiles will look stunning when used as a feature, either in a shower wall or a basin splashback.

If pastel tiles aren’t quite your thing, think of bringing colour in through painted walls instead. Next to some marble-effect tiles or darker textured tiles, a pop of colour will look absolutely amazing, and if you do happen to change your mind in a few years, it’s easy to change!
