Going beyond with New Minimum Rates of Pay

At Ceramic Tile Distributors our employees play a vital role in making our customer service the best it can be.  Serving colleagues day-in day-out they are the face of Ceramic Tile Distributors and the greeting our customers get each day.  

With that in mind, we’ve increased the minimum employee’s hourly rate of pay ahead of the Government’s introduction of the National Living Wage in April 2017.  The National Living Wage was first rolled out in April 2016 and means all businesses have to pay employees aged 25 and over at least £7.20 per hour.

CTD Employees

In his summer budget last year, George Osborne announced that this figure would be increased to £7.50 as of 1st April 2017. But we took the decision to go beyond this so will be paying all of our employees, at least £7.80 per hour. We’ve also taken the decision to support young people more, and have extended the minimum wage increase to employees over the age of 21, rather than the 25 the Government indicated. We are passionate about getting more young people into our business and supporting them to develop long careers with us.

Katie Clapham, Head of HR for CTD Group said: "Putting this minimum salary in place across the CTD group was really important for us and our colleagues, not only making sure there is a minimum pay, above the minimum set by government, but also that it’s in place for anyone over 21, rather than 25 as the government set-out."
