Is Natural Stone Good for Kitchen Floors?
Natural stone is popular due to its’ durability and beautiful appearance. However, some types of natural stone are quite porous, and so have to be regularly sealed to prevent staining and water damage. There are plenty of lower maintenance options to achieve the natural stone look, and these are not limited to floor tiles, natural stone effect kitchen wall tiles are a popular choice! Check out our blog on Textured Stone Effect Wall Tiles.
What is the Best Natural Stone for Floors?
The best type of natural stone for floors all depends on the chosen area of the home. Factors like expected level of foot traffic and the likelihood that it may often become wet will need to be considered when choosing natural stone kitchen tiles. While marble can look classic and elegant, it can be slippery and high maintenance and so may not be ideal for high traffic areas like the kitchen. Flagstone and granite are known for being more durable than marble, but are porous and therefore prone to staining. At CTD we have a variety of alternatives; porcelain and ceramic are a lot easier to maintain and can still offer the stunning look of natural stone.
