A wet room is a fantastic way of opening up space in a small bathroom by removing the need for a shower cubicle and it also serves as an ideal solution for people with mobility problems who may find accessing a bath or shower tray difficult. You’ll generally find a wet room easier to maintain than a traditional bathroom as there is no shower cubicle to clean and, if you opt for a wall-hung basin and toilet, keeping the room clean is even easier.

Whilst ceramic tiles are suitable for wet room walls, we would only recommend using porcelain on a wet room floor. Porcelain tiles are denser than ceramic and therefore less porous, harder and more durable long term.

Another important factor when choosing your wet room floor tiles is slip resistance. Choosing porcelain tiles with an anti-slip surface will provide extra grip underfoot, reducing the risk of slipping when the floor is wet and providing a safer bathing environment.

Maintaining your wet room
