Frequently Asked Questions

Q) Can I have a sample?
A) We would always recommend taking a sample home with you as the light in different rooms can change the appearance of the tile. Samples are available from our depots for a fully refundable deposit. Please note that the exact shade of the tile cannot be guaranteed.

Q) I don’t know how many tiles I need for my project. Can you work it out for me?
A) If you bring a plan of the area to be tiled, our staff will be able to work out the number of tiles required. We would normally recommend allowing approximately 10% to cover wastage and breakages. If at the end of the job you have any left over, bring them back to us within 4 weeks and we can refund them with no re-stocking charge.

Q) Do you deliver?
A) Unfortunately most of our depots are unable to offer a delivery service to private addresses. Most family cars should be able to take up to about 15m2 of tiles. If you have any problems though, please discuss with our staff who may, in exceptional circumstances be able to assist.

Q) How quickly are you able to get tiles into stock?
A) Most tiles are available within 2-3 days. Our staff will always let you know the expected delivery date, and keep you informed if there are any unexpected delays.

Q) Can you use floor tiles on the wall?
A) Floor tiles are suitable for tiling onto most walls. However wall tiles are not suitable for floors. Consult with our staff who will ensure the correct adhesives and grouts are selected if you plan to dot his however.

Q) Can I tile onto wooden floors?
A) All our floor tiles can be used on wooden floors. However special flexible grouts and adhesives must be used. Consult our staff who will ensure the correct products are specified.

Q) What maintenance is required with tiles?
A) For manmade tiles, no specific maintenance is required. Just make sure good hygiene procedures are followed. For natural tiles, sealants and protectors may be required. Depending on the level of wear, this may need to be re-applied every year or so. Consult our staff for details of how to maintain the product you choose.

Q) I have had black mould on grout before. I am worried it will happen again. Is there any way of preventing it?
A) There are antibacterial grouts available which will prevent black mould from occurring. This technology is also available in bath sealants. Obviously a good hygiene regime should be maintained in conjunction with these products.

Q) I am worried that floor tiles will be cold underfoot. Is there anything I can do to prevent this?
A) We stock an electric under-tile heating mat. It is mains powered and controlled by an intelligent thermostat for maximum energy efficiency. It has a 10 year guarantee. The system is suitable for both wooden and conc
